Chapters & learning objectives
1. Interventions to Improve Mobility: Manual Therapy Lab
This chapter will cover thrust and non-thrust techniques for appropriately selected patients. Therefore, beyond the selected technique instruction, this course will also provide background on the selection of the appropriate patient for manual therapy interventions. A test-treat-retest approach will be emphasized.
2. Exercise Interventions Lab Based on Neck Pain Guidelines
This chapter will introduce the learner to the appropriate selection of exercises including dosing and progression strategies based on the examination findings specific to the pediatric and adolescent neck pain population. Furthermore, clinical practice guidelines will be used as supportive framework for the development of an exercise base management strategy.
3. Pain Interventions and Education
This chapter will include specific instruction on utilizing and integrating a pain science approach to the care of pediatric and adolescent patients with neck pain. There will be a focus on appropriate language, especially for the facilitation of a therapeutic alliance. Clinical practice guidelines are used as a framework.
